HKSA Virtual Conference 2023 - Call for Papers (PhD Workshop)

The Hong Kong Studies Association invites papers for the PhD workshop of its virtual conference this year: Hong Kong Beyond Geopolitics: Diaspora, Institution and Agency on 29-30 May 2023.

We invite PhD students and candidates to submit papers on Hong Kong from the Arts and Humanities, Social Science and Law with a focus on diasporas, academic freedom, global governance, new theoretical and methodological lenses, and creativity in Hong Kong Studies.

The HKSA supports PhD students in Hong Kong Studies with a designated workshop. Papers of invited PhD student speakers will be reviewed by established scholars and provided a virtual platform to share and exchange their research ideas and findings.

The conference will also feature a keynote speech on migration studies on Hong Kong diasporic community in the UK, and two panels on academic initiatives and international relations in light of Hong Kong today.

Please send a 150-word abstract to by 2 April 2023 noontime (12:00 BST). Invited PhD students will be informed by 6 April 2023, and shall submit a full paper (6,000 words, bibliography and footnotes exclusive) by 15 May 2023 noontime (12:00 BST).
