As the 10th anniversary of the Sunflower Movement in Taiwan and the Umbrella Movement in Hong Kong approached, the Hong Kong Studies Hub of the University of Surrey, and the Taiwan Research Hub of the University of Nottingham co-organised a workshop on "Revisiting the Legacy of Taiwan's Sunflower Movement and Hong Kong's Umbrella Movement", taking place at both the University of Surrey and the University of Nottingham.
As part of the jointly organised workshop, Dr Chun-Yi Lee, Dr Malte Kaeding, and Dr Desmond Sham wrote three pieces, reflecting on the legacy of those pivotal events 10 years ago. The three articles are:

(An Associate Professor at the University of Nottingham School of Politics and International Relations. She is the Director of the Taiwan Research Hub at the University of Nottingham and the Editor-in-Chief of Taiwan Insight.)
Searching for Identity: Context and Legacy of the Hong Kong Umbrella Movement by Dr Malte Kaeding
(A Senior Lecturer in International Politics at the University of Surrey. He is the Director of the Hong Kong Studies Hub and a co-founder and co-convenor of the Hong Kong Studies Association.)
The Coming of an Overseas Hong Konger Identity and Taiwan-Hong Kong Identity: Reflection on the Legacy of the Umbrella Movement by Dr Desmond Sham
(An Assistant Professor in Cultural and Creative Industries at the Department of Cultural, Media and Visual Studies and a Resident Senior Fellow at the Taiwan Research Hub at the University of Nottingham. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Desmond received his PhD in Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London. Prior to joining the University of Nottingham, he held research and teaching positions at various universities in Singapore and Taiwan.)
